  2. He breaks this into Heavyweights, Middleweights, and Lightweights, and each is broken into Tiers. He then explains why he likes EACH movie. This collection of 9 lists comprise what I think is the best 'List' on the site.

  4. I don't think there was more thought put into a single 'composite list' than this. I'll need more time to sift through it to determine if I agree with the list, but the fact is THIS is the prime example of how to build a mega-list. Not only does it rank 100 albums, but it gives a detailed explanation of WHY each entry appears. I am very movie oriented, otherwise this should probably appear as #1.

These lists are the very best lists on this site. I have two other lists that contain 'the rest of the best', but these lists set the top of the scale. THIS is how lists should be done. They are the ones I think require the most thought, creativity, and/or balls to post.

There are a lot of OBJECTIVE lists out there that just reprint awards results (The Oscar Award for Lighting from 1932-2001) or cut-and-paste articles from other sites (MY OWN "Parodies" section from The Editing Room reposts). While these add content to the site and are worthwhile information or fun,

I FEEL that the most significant posts on this site are the SUBJECTIVE lists that make you think, that present an opinion, that hang it out there. Lists that can't really be quantitatively determined (although lots of us, including me, still try to rate or assign a number to them). Lists that say, "I really hate this kind of stuff" even though you know that vast majority likes them. Lists that not only say, "I like this movie," but also give a good detailed argument as to WHY they like the movie.

Thanks.

Just curious - Are you going to break this list into Film, Books, Music, and Others, or are the Film lists the only ones worthy enough for here?

I certainly see many of my favorite lists on here.

Shalom, y'all!

You caught me in building the list! Actually, there are many non-film lists that can go on here. I knew I'd be in trouble when I started building it and it would pop up into the recent updates, so that's why I started building it at 1am! I've been scrambling through the members lists where I remember saying, "Hey, great list!"

The formatting of the links takes some time, I'm finding it slow work. I think I'll just find the lists and post them, and THEN go back and link them.

I'm definitely up for suggestions on ones I might have missed.

Sean

Wow, thanks for including me here! I say this in the most un-Wayne-and-Garthish tone possible: I'm not worthy!

And you'll probably agree with my unworthiness once you notice that I've nuked title formatting. :-) Sorry, had to do it though. The potential for havoc is too great (especially when you consider that the title you had appeared like 5 times bigger than the others in the "recent updates" box). Before you know it, we'll have BLINK tags in the titles, and folks will leave in droves. :-)

I continue to plug away on themes though. Much bigger undertaking than I originally estimated. The latest wrinkle I've uncovered is that if I'm going to let users completely overhaul the look-and-feel of the site, then I have to find a way to let them customize the system buttons ("post", "preview", etc.) too. After all, who wants to go to the trouble of building a tasteful blue-and-grey theme only to have it peppered with garish green-and-gold buttons?

I forgot to mention . . . You could "archive" a list while it is in progress. That would keep if from showing up in the "recent updates" box until it is ready.

L.,
After working on my list, I finally realized I needed to come up with a TOP list, and then have other lists highlight the 'best of the rest.'

Sean

Well thanks, Maybe if i ever finish that damn list. I can move up the List...Just kidding you have put me with some wonderful company.
